Text Box: August is Back to School
Month
———————————

This is the time of the year when those endless School Supplies List are given out to every child for the parent to fill. Some lists can be very expensive given the budgets that most families are having to revamp in these times.

Don’t be too shy to ask for help. There are several organizations that spend their money on getting kids ready for school. You can call your school office and inquire about the agencies in your area that are helping. Some schools will give free backpacks for the asking and those backpacks are usually filled to the brim.

Your kids need a good start when they begin each new year. New supplies and clothes make them feel good. Feeling good translates into doing good.

So start asking and get those resources lined up before the last minute.

Child Care Resource & Referral

Did you know that CCR&R can direct you to many services other than child care providers? The service is available for anyone needing help in Lake County.  If you have a special needs child, need help locating food pantries,  counseling or any or any other need you may have., you can call our office at (352) 315-3905, Extension 106 and talk with our CCR&R Coordinator Denise Staehler.  And, don’t forget the toll free line for Florida’s Central Directory 1-800-654-4440 for information on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and for help in understanding Inclusion.  There is lots of help out there — sometimes it just takes a little searching — and we can help with that.
